Half-centuries from David Warner (52) and Rishabh Pant (51) coupled with some disciplined bowling efforts secured the win for the Capitals.
DC vs CSK: Warner & Shaw Provide Solid Start:
Opting to bat first, DC openers David Warner and Prithvi Shaw got off to a flying start, stitching together a crucial 93-run partnership. Warner, in particular, displayed aggressive batting with five boundaries and three sixes in his 35-ball knock.
Pant Provides Late Flourish:
After the dismissal of Shaw, Rishabh Pant took center stage, smashing a quickfire 51 off just 32 deliveries. His knock, laced with four boundaries and three sixes, ensured DC posted a competitive total of 191 for 5.
Khaleel Ahmed Stars with the Ball:
CSK’s chase began disastrously as left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed picked up two early wickets in his first two overs, restricting them to a mere 32 runs in the powerplay.
CSK Falter Despite Rahane & Mitchell Efforts:
A valiant 68-run partnership between Ajinkya Rahane (45) and Daryl Mitchell (34) revived CSK’s hopes briefly. However, the dismissal of Mitchell by Axar Patel triggered a collapse, with Mukesh Kumar removing both Rahane and Sameer Rizvi in quick succession.
Dhoni’s Late Cameo Proves Insufficient:
MS Dhoni, the veteran CSK captain, tried his best to salvage the chase with a late cameo of 37 runs off just 16 deliveries. However, his efforts came too late, as CSK fell short by 20 runs.
A Crucial Win for DC:
This victory provides a much-needed boost for the Delhi Capitals, who had lost their opening two matches. Conversely, it marks CSK’s first defeat of the season.
