India’s para shooting contingent had a mixed day at the WSPS Para Shooting World Cup on Wednesday. While Manish Narwal impressed with two silver medals, other shooters like Avani Lekhara narrowly missed out on podium finishes.
Narwal Shines with Individual and Team Silver
Manish Narwal emerged as the star performer for India, showcasing his talent in both individual and team events. In the Men’s 10m Air Pistol (SH1) individual category, Narwal displayed sharp shooting but fell short of gold. He scored 236.7, finishing behind China’s Chao Yang (240.3) who claimed the top spot. Korea’s Jeongdu Jo secured the bronze medal with a score of 214.7.
Narwal’s winning spirit continued in the team event. He joined forces with Rudransh Khandelwal and Sanjeev Giri to clinch another silver medal in the P1 Men’s Team 10m Air Pistol (SH1) category.
Other WSPS Para Shooting World Cup Results: Lekhara Finishes Fifth, Nidagundi Makes Steady Progress
In the R7 Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (SH1) event, no Indian shooters managed to qualify for the final eight. However, Rakesh Nidagundi displayed promising form by finishing the qualification round in 14th position.
Paralympic gold medalist Avani Lekhara came close to a podium finish in the R8 Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (SH1) category. Lekhara shot a commendable score of 418.6, securing fifth place. Mona Agarwal, another Indian shooter in the same event, finished just behind Lekhara with a score of 407.9.
