This incentive recognizes the exceptional performances of Indian players and support staff at major tournaments like the Asian Games, Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC), and BWF World Junior Championships.

Key Highlights

  • The historic women’s badminton team, champions of the BATC, receives a hefty sum of ₹35 lakh.
  • The gold medal-winning men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty from the Asian Games claims ₹12 lakh.
  • H S Prannoy, the Asian Games men’s singles bronze medalist, pockets ₹5 lakh.
  • The men’s team, securing their first-ever Asian Games silver medal, celebrates with a collective prize of ₹40 lakh.

BAI Recognizes Rising Stars of Indian Badminton

The association extends its support beyond senior players, acknowledging the achievements of young talents:

  • Ayush Shetty, BWF World Championships bronze medalist, receives ₹1 lakh.
  • Bornil Aakash Changmai, Badminton Asia Junior U-15 boys singles champion, is awarded ₹2 lakh.
  • Tanvi Sharma, U-17 girls singles silver medalist, gets ₹1 lakh.
  • Jagsher Singh Khangurra, U-15 boys singles bronze medalist, takes home ₹50,000.

BAI General Secretary Sanjay Mishra emphasizes the significance of these rewards: “Indian badminton is on the upswing… this cash prize is a way of acknowledging their efforts and incentivising the future generation.”

Looking Ahead

BAI’s commitment to badminton doesn’t stop here. They’ve announced a prize pool of ₹18 lakh for the upcoming Yonex-Sunrise 45th Indian Masters National Badminton Championships, aiming to boost participation and attract veteran players.
