Baseball United, situated in Dubai, has declared their inaugural player draught.
A total of eighty players were chosen, with twenty picks allotted to the Mumbai Cobras, Karachi Monarchs, and Wolves and Falcons, the league’s two UAE-based teams.

Former MLB players make up the majority of the first draught.

Among the picks were three-time World Series winner Pablo Sandoval, selected by the Falcons, and former New York Yankees stars Robinson Cano and Didi Gregorius, both selected by the Wolves.

Among the first choices were also four-time Gold Glove winner Andrelton Simmons and four-time MLB All-Star Bartolo Colon.

Sixty-six of the eighty players selected were first selected by Major League Baseball teams; the remaining players competed in the Mexican League, the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League, the Nippon Professional Baseball League in Japan, and other elite international leagues.

Baseball United’s chairman, CEO, and main owner, Kash Shaikh, stated: “When you’re building something from nothing, every milestone matters.”

But our largest draught to date is the one from yesterday. For all parties concerned, placing players on teams makes things much more realistic. We currently have eighty elite professional baseball players to aid in laying the groundwork for this league.

This group is quite diverse in terms of age, experience, skill set, and nationality. To help spread the game throughout the globe, we have a mix of veterans and younger players in addition to all-stars and past first-round picks.

“I’m thrilled for every one of our players, and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Eddy Diaz, John Miedreich, and our whole baseball operations team for pulling this group together.”

The 25 nations represented by Baseball United’s drafted players are as follows: eight from the Dominican Republic, four from Curacao, three from Canada, three from Italy, and 36 from the United States.

A total of forty-four players who were drafted, including six prospects from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Indian subcontinent, will participate in Baseball United’s All-Star Showcase in Dubai the following month.

Two sides will square off in a two-game series at Dubai International Stadium on November 24–25.
